Glutathione

Glutathione is a natural tripeptide consisting of Glutamic Acid, Cysteine and Glycine. It is one of the most powerful endogenous Antioxidants in our body. It acts against Free Radicals, which are responsible for cell damage and premature aging; it also supports the body’s detoxification process, protecting cells and keeping skin young and healthy.

The immediately bioavailable reduced form (GSH) has greater efficacy in the processes of detoxification and neutralization of free radicals; it also has the ability to regenerate other antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

Glutathione is found in many cells and tissues, with high concentrations in the liver. It can be introduced through the diet (fruits, vegetables, meat), but most is produced endogenously. Below are the main functions of Glutathione:

Antioxidant Action
Protects cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Detoxification
Participates in the neutralization of toxic substances, drugs and heavy metals, especially at the liver level.

Regeneration of other antioxidants
Helps regenerate active forms of vitamin C and E.

Immune Support
Plays an important role in the proper functioning of the immune system.

Glutathione is generally well tolerated. Dosage depends on the form, target, and type of administration. The most common dosages for Oral Food Supplements, which are the most widely used are 250/500 mg daily. High doses can, in rare cases, cause: gastrointestinal upset; abdominal cramps; allergic reactions (very rare). Always remember that it is important to consult a health care professional before starting any new supplement or treatment.
